Happy Halloween!

Ghosts and Goblins.

Witches with Brooms.

Superheroes with super human powers.

Princesses and fairy dust.

The pumpkins are carved, the spider webs hung and a bowl of treats awaits anxious hands to fill their special Halloween bags. As parents or even providers of treats, we almost get more excited for beggar’s night than the children themselves. We anticipate the doorbell ringing, choosing our favorite costume of the night and seeing the childrens’ eyes swell with eagerness because they are about to consume more candy than Violet from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

But despite all of the tricks or treats, we still need to be reminded of the safety precautions that go into this special evening. Whether you have children or not, the following tips are always a great reminder of how to keep this spooky event SAFE!!

For the Trick-or-Treaters

  1. Plan your route before heading out the door.
  2. Make sure to have a flashlight or piece of reflective tape on your costume.
  3. Only go to doors with the front porch light on---do not go inside the house.
  4. Walk only on the sidewalks, not in the streets.
  5. Be cautious of animals.
  6. Try wearing face paint rather than a mask, which makes it hard to see everything.

For those Welcoming Trick-or-Treaters

  1. Leave the front porch light on.
  2. Make sure the area leading up to your door is clear so that no one falls.
  3. Restrain any household pets.
  4. Use glow sticks instead of a candle in a jack-o-lantern to avoid a fire hazard.
  5. Feel free to participate in the “teal-pumpkin campaign”.

Keep these friendly tips in mind—no matter how you are participating in this holiday. So, get the finishing touches on the costumes complete, fill your treat container to the brim and get ready for the candy crash the next morning! On behalf of Kaine Law, we are wishing you and your family a safe and Happy Halloween!!
