Top 10 Most Dangerous Intersections in Atlanta, Georgia

Avoid These Atlanta Intersections to Avoid a Car Accident

Driving always has its risks.

The uncertainty of road conditions, traffic and how other drivers react, all become variables when we make our daily commutes.

Therefore, we thought it may be a good idea to share the results of a recent investigation of what WSB-TV Atlanta (Channel 2 Action News) found to be the most dangerous intersections in Atlanta.

The latest investigation was conducted during July, 2015 and the findings were a bit surprising. The news team decided to focus on surface streets and found 615 different intersections that average two (2) or more accidents each week.

The following information was provided by WSB-TV Channel 2 Action News:

The tenth (10th) most dangerous intersection is the corner of Piedmont Ave and Monroe Drive (30306) which had twelve (12) accidents in one (1) month. DeKalb County grabbed the number nine (9) spot at the intersection of Briarcliff Rd and North Druid Hills Road (30329). This intersection had 13 accidents in July, 2015 alone.

Jumping ahead, the following intersections were found to be the top five (5) most dangerous intersections throughout the metro Atlanta area:

  1. Jimmy Carter Blvd. and Peachtree Industrial Blvd. in Norcross, GA: 17 car accidents
  1. Cobb Parkway and Earnest Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw, GA: 18 car accidents
  1. Covington Hwy. and Lithonia Industrial Boulevard in Lithonia, GA: 19 car accidents
  1. Stone Mountain Hwy. and East Park Place Blvd. in Stone Mountain, GA: 20 car accidents
  1. Memorial Drive and N. Hairston Road in Stone Mountain, GA: 22 car accidents

Lastly, after analyzing all of the data, it was determined that most car accidents are happening in rural suburbs because commuters are driving faster than downtown Atlanta drivers. It is also important to note that many people do not report car accidents because a small fender bender may not create significant visible damages to driver/passenger and/or vehicle.

This study should come as no surprise as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that 40% of all car accidents happen at intersections. Therefore, if you find yourself having to drive through the intersections listed above, be attentive and careful.

If you were injured in an intersection car crash, through no fault of your own, Kaine Law will work diligently to secure compensation that can cover your medical costs, lost income, pain and suffering and more.
